Overview
Uganda, or the Republic of Uganda is a land-locked country in Africa. It is bordered on the east by Kenya, on the north by Sudan, on the west by the Democratic Republic of the Congo, on the southwest by Rwanda, and on the south by Tanzania. The southern part of the country includes a substantial portion of Lake Victoria, within which it shares borders with Kenya and Tanzania.
Energy and Business
The nation of Uganda has a vast amount of natural resources that include fertile soils, regular rainfall, and sizable mineral deposits of copper and cobalt. The country has largely untapped reserves of both crude oil and natural gas. Agriculture is the most important sector of the economy, employing over 80% of the work force, with coffee accounting for the bulk of export revenues. The booming agricultural industry of Uganda has been growing since the mid 80's and continues to grow over current expectations. Government reforms and new policies have allowed this to happen as well as foreign direct investment.
Climate Change Effects
Most of Uganda is very near to the Equator, which allows for these extreme weather changes due to global warming and climate change. Southern Uganda is wetter with rain generally spread throughout the year. There has been much research to better understand and possibly control global warming and climate change, but the negative effects have been severe so far, research has showed that it prevents temperatures from varying significantly and increases cloudiness and rainfall. Uganda is working closely with other African nations to conduct joint studies that will benefit all of Africa in order to overcome these terrible changes that global warming has taken part on them
Future Outlook
Uganda will look to continue to grow and expand its economy in the years to come. As in the past, Uganda will focus on its vast wealth of natural resources and agricultural industry in order to become an African leader in terms of industry exportation. Also Uganda will be able to boast that it has the largest percentage of agricultural workforce in all of Africa, with nearly 80%. This will be an important factor in the future as Uganda looks to continue its expanding agricultural industry.
