Economy

Tanzania's economy is mostly reliant upon agriculture, which employs a large percentage of the country's population. Agricultural produce includes tea, coffee, sissal, cashew nuts, tobacco, corn, cloves, wheat, cassava, fruits, bananas, vegetables, cattle, sheep and goats. Major industries in the country are the agricultural processing of beer, cigarettes, sugar and twine, diamond, iron and gold mining, salt, cement, soda ash, oil refining, shoes, clothes, fertiliser and wood products. Tanzani's main natural resources are tin, hydropower, phosphates, iron ore, coal, gold, diamonds, natural gas and nickel. Tanzania is a member of the East African Community and a potential member of the East African Federation.

Tourism is also a vital part of the Tanzanian economy, with several national parks including the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Conservation Park.

Energy

Much of Tanzania's energy comes from natural gas, which is transported through a pipeline to the major city Dar es Salaam. The country also harvests the more sustainable and environmental form of energy of hydropower to create some of its power.
