Languages
Mozambique is a multilingual country, although Portuguese is the official language and is spoken by many people - Mozambique is a member of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries. There are also a number of Bantu languages spoken, including Swahili, Makhuwa, Sena, Ndau, Shangaan, as well as Lomwe, Chopi, Makonde, Chuwaba, Ronga, Zulu and Tswa.
Economy
Mozambique is a member of the Southern Africa Development Community, which aims to increase the freedoms of trade between countries by reducing tarriffs and other such trade barriers. Mozambican produce includes shrimp, fish, cashews, tea, sugar, cotton, citrus fruits and copra. Other industries include chemicals, food and drink, aluminium, cement, glass and tobacco. In terms of energy production, Mozambique has natural resources of hydropower, coal and natural gas. Trading partners include South Africa, Zimbabwe, the Netherlands and Portugal.
Geography
Mozambique is in southeast Africa and is bordered by Swaziland, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzani, the Indian Ocean and Malawi. It has a tropical climate, and a biodiverse climate, with a mixture of savannah, flooded grassland and woodlands, as well as mountainous regions. The country's main cities are Maputo, Beira, Nampula, Tete, Quelimane, Chimoio, Pemba, Inhambane, Xai-Xai and Lichinga.
